Directory Structure

The following is the general set of directories created when Hugo makes a new site:

• archetypes: Files that contain preconfigured front matter for site pages.
• assets: Files that are to be processed by Hugo Pipes (available in Hugo Extended)
• config: Configuration directives
• content: Website content pages that have the extension .md.
• data: Configuration and or data files that can be written in yaml/json/toml format.
• layouts: Template files with .html extension.
• static: Static content files: images, css, javascript, etc.
